Registered at this office
The list of every company that files from the same registered office as a building's owner, and what that does and does not prove.
The company on a deed is often a single-purpose LLC with no other trace. The Registered at this office list shows what else is filed from the same door: every company that gives the New York Department of State (DOS) the same registered office. It is one of the fastest ways to see that an unfamiliar LLC belongs to an operator you already know.
What "registered" means here
Every LLC and corporation formed or doing business in New York registers with the Department of State and names an address where it accepts legal papers. That is its registered office. The person or firm named to receive those papers is its process agent (on a company's page this is labelled Legal papers to).
This is a business registration, and it is a different thing from two others you will meet in BlockLot:
- The deed owner is whoever the latest recorded deed in ACRIS, the City's register of deeds and mortgages, names as the buyer. That is who holds the building.
- The HPD registration is the filing a residential landlord makes with the City's Department of Housing Preservation and Development, naming the owner, officers and managing agent of one building. It appears on the property page, in the owner and contacts cards. See The owner and contacts.
A company's registered office says where the company takes legal papers. It does not say which buildings the company owns.
Getting there
- Open a building owned through a company, and scroll to the Owner's portfolio card.
- When the owner's company is matched in the State registry, the card shows Registered office at the right, with the address underneath.
- Click the address. The list opens in the side drawer.

- Click to open the list
- This owner's buildings
Reading the list
The drawer is titled Registered at this office with the number of companies. A short note repeats the address and the caveat below. Then one row per company:
- Entity: the company's name. A name that matches a property owner links to its company page. See Company pages.
- Type: the kind of company the State registry records it as.
- Process agent: who accepts legal papers for it. For a small single-member LLC this is often the person behind the company, named in the public registry.
- Properties: how many buildings the company holds, with condominium units in brackets where they differ.
Companies that hold the most come first. When the list is long, a line at the bottom says Showing the first so many, largest holdings first.

- How many companies
- Often the person behind it
- Buildings it holds
When nothing is listed
- Not listed — this is a registered-agent address. Law firms, filing services and virtual offices accept papers for hundreds of unrelated companies. Listing them would make a mail drop look like one landlord's empire, so BlockLot shows the count and nothing else.
- Nothing else is registered at this address. The owner's company is the only one filed there.
Who can see it
The list needs an account. Opening it counts as one report against your monthly allowance; opening the same office again in the same month does not count again. A free account sees the list with its details hidden, and company names need a plan that includes the owner's portfolio. See Plans and billing.
Tips
- To see the buildings these companies hold, rather than just their names, open the office page: search for one of the companies and use its office ↗ link. See Owner office pages.
- The Owner's portfolio card already groups the owner's companies in a broader way, using deeds and filings as well as the shared office. See The owner's portfolio.
